About the Event
The Battle of Shiloh was fought on April 6th and 7th 1862. It is considered to be the first major battle of the Civil war. Union troops under the command of General Ulysses S. Grant and Confederate troops under the command of General Albert Sydney Johnston clashed for two bloody days resulting in over 23,000 casualties. The young men that fought and died at the battle came from many different states , both north and south, all of them Americans. Their hardships, struggles and dedication to duty should never be forgotten!
